The Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL) and Manchester Police Department will be hosting the 13th Annual Footrace for the Fallen 5K on Sunday, October 6, 2019. The race will start at 10:15 am in front of the Manchester Police Department and end inside Gill Stadium. The Footrace for the Fallen 5K honors Manchester’s fallen officers, Officer Michael Briggs, Sergeant Henry McAllister, Officer Ralph Miller, and Inspector William Moher, and all officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
Proceeds from the race will support MPAL, a safe-haven for area youth, providing athletic and enrichment programs while fostering positive relationships between youth, their families, and police officers. New this year, the participants will also have the opportunity to help fundraise for MPAL, with the top three fundraisers receiving the first three bib numbers. A donation will also be made to the Hundred Club of New Hampshire, which provides scholarships and financial assistance to the widows and children of New Hampshire law enforcement officers and firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Registration for adults (18+) is $30 online and $35 day-of and registration for youth (under 18) is $25 online and $30 day-of. The first 500 people to register will receive a free race shirt. After runners cross the finish at the 20 yard line of the football field, they will be able to then enjoy time with friends and family with food, drinks, prizes, and awards.
“We love seeing the Greater New Hampshire law enforcement and civilian communities come together to remember our fallen officers while supporting the hundreds of kids who come to MPAL each year,” said Ariel Kapteyn, Co-Race Director and Director of Marketing at MPAL.
“MPAL is an invaluable program for Manchester’s young residents and future community leaders. We appreciate the support of the community and our race sponsors in helping to ensure the ongoing success and growth of MPAL, so the program may continue to support and mentor Manchester’s children for many years to come,” said Detective Justin Breton of the Manchester Police Department and Co-Race Director.
The 13th Annual Footrace for the Fallen 5K is generously sponsored by Members First Credit Union. Businesses interested in sponsoring the race should email Ariel Kapteyn at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Footrace for the Fallen 5K, planned in partnership between the Manchester Police Athletic League and the Manchester Police Department, began in 2007 to honor Manchester police officers who have died in the line of duty. Since then, thousands of runners from across New Hampshire have participated and helped honor Manchester’s fallen officers, while supporting the youth of Greater Manchester.
