The Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL) is an after school athletic organization that connects cops and kids. MPAL is a 501(c)3 non-profit that is run by a Manchester Police Officer assigned full time to the organization. Athletics include Boxing, Judo, wrestling and aikido. MPAL also offers numerous recreational and academic programs including Police Exploring and tutoring services. The goals of the organization are to provide youth with a safe, positive environment where police officers serve as coaches and mentors. MPAL also relies on a group of dedicated volunteers to provide expert coaching and development opportunities for participants. The Manchester Police Athletic League strives to foster and maintain positive relationships between the youth of the Greater Manchester area and members of the Manchester Police Department. MPAL offers area youth a safe structured environment to help kids grow, make the right choices and become productive members of the community. By providing mentoring along with sports and academic instruction in the after school/early evening hours, we believe we are making champions both in and out of the gym.
Manchester Police Officer John Levasseur is assigned to the Police Athletic League full time. His responsibilities include coordinating all programs, coaching, and maintaining the building. Officer Levasseur has been highly acclaimed for his ability to work with youth and his expert coaching abilities. Officer Levasseur has significant experience in boxing and mixed martial arts.
